I have been doing professional commissioned portrait work for over ten years, focusing on animals for the last two. Pets appeal to me because they are physically diverse and each subject I paint projects a very unique personality. It is my goal to represent that personality in a realistic and intuitive way that creates an encounter between the subject on the canvas and the viewer.
I started my formal training in portraiture as a high school student at Phillips Academy in Andover and at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. I studied at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York and graduated from the Massachusetts College of Art with honors in Painting.
I have taught art classes to school children at Pratt Saturday School and classical drawing to students at Massachusetts College of Art.
My work is collected across the United States and Europe.
